Muhammad Wasif Ijlal

Muhammad Wasif Ijlal is a seasoned executive with 28 years of cross-sector experience in financial services, private equity, investment management, urban mobility, and sustainability. He has held senior leadership roles across the public and private sectors and served on the boards of listed and private companies in GCC, Pakistan, China, Turkey and Singapore. He has led transformational initiatives for high-impact ventures and advised stakeholders at the highest levels on investment strategy, governance, and sustainable development.

Qualification: Wasif holds an MBA from the University of Bath, UK. on a Chevening Scholarship, and an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi. He is a Certified Director from the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance and a Certified Carbon Literate professional from The Carbon Literacy Project.

Experience: Wasif brings a strong foundation in investment and strategy, having delivered financial and operational value across diverse sectors and geographies. He has led complex M&A transactions, portfolio restructurings, and cross-sector investment strategies, including the management of a $1.5 billion portfolio spanning private equity, real estate, and fund assets. As CEO of a $500 million urban mobility initiative funded by the Asian Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, he oversaw the full project lifecycle – from loan effectiveness to breaking ground – while introducing South Asia’s first waste-to-fuel transit solution.

He has advised boards and C-suite leaders on crisis management and organizational transformation, having personally led post-crisis turnarounds throughout his career. His recent focus includes supporting clients across both the public and private sectors in integrating sustainable business practices and monetizing carbon credits.
